Large Volume Electrolysis

Electrolysis offers permanent hair removal that is suitable for people of all genders, skin colors and hair types. It’s the only permanent hair removal solution approved by the Food and Drug Association (FDA). Large volume electrolysis entails the same process as regular electrolysis, with the added benefit of an additional technician (when necessary), longer treatment hours, and our exclusive comfort protocol.

Cirine® Hair Removal & Skin Care offers skin care and permanent hair removal in Chicago and Wilmette, Illinois. Our skilled team of licensed electrologists and estheticians is here to help you reach your goals of hair-free skin.

  • Fewer sessions: Large volume electrolysis requires fewer sessions, helping you reach your goals sooner.
  • Reduced pain: We offer an exclusive comfort protocol for large volume electrolysis. It includes numbing cream, local anesthetic injections, and IV sedation.
  • Multiple technicians: Two of our expert technicians work together for fast and optimal results.
  • Lower total treatment hours: We estimate up to 110 hours rather than 200 to 400 hours or more.
  • Longer treatment sessions: We offer up to 15 treatment hours per day (7.5 hours actual time between two electrologists) so you can speed up your results.

What to Know About Electrolysis

Our expert technicians at Cirine® Hair Removal & Skin Care are ready to answer your questions and explain the process of our electrolysis treatments. Here are a few things you should know about large volume electrolysis:

  • Growth phase targeting: Hair grows in various cycles, and electrolysis is most successful in the growth phase, also known as the anagen phase.
  • Multiple sessions: Due to the above-mentioned growth cycles, multiple sessions are necessary to achieve hair-free results. Cirine® technicians will advise you on scheduling to ensure a quick and effective journey with us.
  • Treatment completion period: Large volume electrolysis offers a shorter completion period of about a year instead of the usual two to five years estimated for regular electrolysis treatments.
  • Medical treatment: Electrolysis is usually considered a cosmetic treatment, but it can also be recommended to treat hirsutism, a condition that causes people (mostly women) to be prone to excessive hair growth, and for gender-affirming care or those affected by PCOS.

Our Process at Cirine® Hair Removal & Skin Care

We begin with a consultation to determine your unique needs based on your skin and hair type. Everyone’s requirements will differ, and we prioritize understanding your desires and allowing you to ask any questions. We will also brief you on our preparatory guide, which includes drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine and alcohol for 72 hours before the treatment.

The procedure itself is preceded by our comfort protocol. Your technician will apply numbing cream 15 to 30 minutes before numbing injections and IV sedation are administered. This will allow you to relax and remain at ease throughout.

Your electrologist (or electrologists) will then insert a small probe into each hair follicle to damage it with alternating electrical currents to heat and destroy the follicle base. After your session, Cirine® offers treatment enhancements should you wish to reduce swelling and improve skin repair.
