Recommended Treatment Enhancement:
Genital Electrolysis:
  • Lymphatic Drainage Recovery Treatment ($195) – Helps to reduce swelling and speed recovery. Performed following treatment at our office or your hotel. Duration: approximately 30 minutes. Please contact us 1 week before treatment to schedule.
Following these instructions carefully will ensure better treatment.
  • TRIM HAIR TO 1/2 INCH LENGTH. DO NOT SHAVE. If the hair is less than 1/2 inch in length, leave as-is.
  • For clients with light colored hair (blonde, red, etc.), please dye the hair black at least 2 days prior to the treatment. You may use any standard hair dye. Following the dyeing procedure, please apply lotion to the skin twice per day until treatment.
  • Shower the morning of treatment and clean the treatment area and surrounding area very well with soap and water
  • During the day you will need to use wet wipes to clean the treatment and surrounding area after you use the restroom before electrolysis resumes. This will help to prevent infection and ensure a hygienic working area for your technician.
  • Hydration is important! – Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day for 5 days leading up to treatment.
  • Discontinue use of spironolactone 4 days prior to your large volume electrolysis session. After treatment, you may resume.
  • Do not take ibuprofen (Advil, etc.), aspirin, or acetaminophen (Tylenol, etc.) for 4 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment.
  • Eat a light meal or snack before treatment. Avoid heavy food and eating less than one hour before treatment. Eating a snack during the day will also help you to feel better and help to prevent nausea from the medications.
  • During treatment, your technician may ask for your assistance in positioning your body to allow for better access to the treatment area.

You may experience these effects after treatment:

  • Swelling, bruising, crusting, scabbing, redness, inflammation, or other skin irritations
  • Shaking, lightheadedness and nausea are possible as a result of the medications being administered

These are considered typical and following the post-treatment care protocol will help you and your skin to return to its normal state quicker. Should you experience adverse effects not covered here or if they last for an extended period of time, please contact us for assistance. Although unlikely, if you experience an emergency, contact 911 or a physician immediately.

Day of treatment:

  • Apply one application of Neosporin + Pain Relief Cream to the treated area, with clean hands. If allergic or sensitive to Neosporin ingredients, over-the-counter zinc oxide ointment can be used.
  • Begin applying Avene Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream to keep the skin hydrated at all times.
  • Begin icing the treated area for 10 minutes at a time, every 2 hours. Place a clean cloth between ice bag and skin to avoid over-icing.
  • Wear loose clothing to avoid constriction or friction.
  • Avoid any strenuous activity and get plenty of rest.

Days following treatment:

  • Gently cleanse your skin with a mild cleanser and lukewarm/cool water twice daily. Gently pat dry. Avoid bar soap.
  • Apply Avene Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream or substitute to treated area. Reapply throughout the day to ensure the skin stays hydrated during the healing process. Continue for 10-14 days or until skin has recovered.
  • Apply a petroleum jelly-based product such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment on top of the I-Rescue to help keep the skin hydrated and protected.
  • Continue to apply an ice bag for 10 minutes at a time, every 2-3 hours until swelling has subsided.
  • Wear loose clothing to avoid constriction or friction.
  • Avoid any strenuous activity.

Please note:

  • Do not pick, scratch, or otherwise unnecessarily touch the treated area(s).
  • Avoid any friction in the treated area(s).
  • OTC Ibuprofen or acetaminophen can be help helpful if you experience any discomfort.
  • Avoid direct shower spray, very hot showers/baths, swimming, strenuous exercise, and saunas.
  • Continue to stay well-hydrated by drinking a lot of water.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol while healing.
  • Inflammation in the skin may temporarily appear as dark spots or pigmentation.
  • In areas of dense growth, fluid discharge may occur and is typical. Allow the crust to remove on its own during cleansing. Do not pick. Use a petroleum jelly-based product (Aquaphor Healing Ointment) on top of Cicalfate to help soften and protect these areas.
  • Bruising may occur in some individuals. Eating fresh pineapple, and/or taking vitamin C or arnica montana* supplements while healing may be beneficial to diminish bruises and speed healing.
  • Residual numbness may occur in some individuals and will eventually subside.
